Baseball Instructors

John Taft

Head Instructor

John has been the Program Owner and Head Director of Player Development for Triple Crown Baseball for nine years. Coach Taft has been honored by the Boston Red Sox for his coaching with the George Berardi Memorial Trophy in 2013 & 2015 for winning two Massachusetts State Championships.

John has been a part of multiple teams that have gone onto win elite level championships and gained national rankings. Most recently in 2019 John managed the TC 10U team that won Perfect Game Super25 New England and advanced Perfect Game Super25 National Championships in Florida. He also managed the 10U Kings that won the Labor Day Classic Tournament Championship at Ripken National in Aberdeen, MD.

Michael Larsen

Head of Player Development

Michael Larsen is our Head of Player Development and one of our many instructors. After graduating from Hull High School where he was a three-year starter and captain of the baseball team in 2009, he played 4 years collegiately at Southern Vermont College. Upon graduating from SVC with his degree in Business Administration and Sports management, Mike joined the coaching staff at Hull High School. First serving as an assistant coach of the baseball team in 2013 and 2014 helping lead them to the top two records the team has had in the past decade.

 

In 2015, Coach Larsen was named the Head Varsity Coach of Cohasset High School. Since joining the program in 2015 Coach Larsen has led the skippers to the State Tournament every year including most recently a trip to the South Section Finals in 2021. His resume includes South Shore League Tobin Division champions in 2019 and 2022 as well as being named South Shore League Coach of the Year in 2019.

 

Coach Larsen Brings with him a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the game as well as provides the leadership we would expect from any head coach.

Ryan Ohnemus

Head of Strength and Conditioning

Ryan graduated from Westfield State University with a degree in Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Exercise Science.. While completing his degree Ryan completed a 200-hour internship at Athletic Based Training in Milford, MA.  Ryan is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as a Club Level Coach through USA Powerlifting.

 

Ryan has experience working with a variety of populations and skill levels, including both athletes and the general population. Ryan’s primary focus and passion has always been working with athletes and helping develop them in the weight room to maximize their performance on the field. Prior to 5 Tool Performance, Ryan worked at The Strength House in Worcester, MA training primarily baseball players.

 

In his spare time Ryan enjoys competing in powerlifting holding personal bests of 424.4 lb. squat, 270 lb. bench, 518 lb. deadlift, for a 1207 lb. total. He also enjoys golfing, and spending time with his family, friends and dog Benson.

Bryce Kiley

A graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, he is currently a student at Stonehill College studying accounting and finance. Bryce was a member of the 2021 Xaverian Brothers High School Division 1 State Championship team. Bryce has had a passion for baseball his whole life and has competed on many levels. Aside from baseball Bryce enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and staying active.  In the past, Bryce worked at Monkey Sports where he specialized in baseball equipment sales.  Bryce was able to meet lots of new people and work hands-on with athletes getting them into the best equipment on the market.  Bryce is looking forward to taking his own playing experience and passion for baseball and sharing that with other baseball athletes looking to better themselves. As an instructor, Bryce specializes in hitting, catching, outfield, and infield skills.
